It’s always fantastic seeing your photo published in a magazine! So, I was super excited when I learned that my photo from the interior of Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavik will be published in Photographos magazine in Greece. The subject of this issue is textures and patterns. Here is my description:

A view of the interior of the Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavik, Iceland. The south side of the building is covered in dodecahedrons. They were inspired by the basalt columns found throughout the country. The rhomboid and hexagonal sides combine to form a striking architectural design that immediately draws your attention. I noticed that getting close enough and looking up creates an impressive pattern that appears to go on forever. I preferred the black and white version of this photograph because it allowed me to concentrate on the geometric shapes and the contrast between the metal structure and the white light.

And here is the magazine’s comment.

These organic and wonderful repeating patterns, the cellular architectural structures reminded me of something. They are completely unique. Elements of a one-of-a-kind architecture from Reykjavik, Iceland’s distant capital, and specifically from the “Harpa Concert Hall.” The black and white is a wise choice here because it highlights the pattern’s structure in a simple and tight way. The use of a wide angle also emphasizes the structure’s perspective and dynamics. Great image in its simplicity, and proof that emphasizing one element is frequently more important than describing everything, which can be more verbose.

Each month N-Photo Magazine, an independent magazine for Nikon photographers runs a photo competition for its Facebook cover photo. This month the theme was Summer. My photo ‘Rainbow Umbrellas’ was selected as the cover photo! Amazing!

This photo was taken in Lefkada, Greece. Its the Egremnoi beach was can be reached either by boat or on foot. On foot means you have to step down 350 stairs! However the view is amazing!

Sometimes the weather has unexpected surprises for us photographers. This afternoon the sky was full of clouds. I had my camera set up but I didn’t expect much. All of a sudden a little opening appeared and the sky was painted red! It lasted only for a few minutes and although some dogs playing in the water tried to wet my camera I managed to take this shot!

This photo was published in the Greek magazine photographer which had light as theme!
