Sithonia is becoming my favourite summer destination in Chalkidiki, Greece. Find an amazing view, leave your camera shooting and relax watching the stars in the night sky. And in the next morning choose one of the many amazing beaches to go for a swim! For this photo I shot around 100 images and combined them with a blue hour photo.

This shipwreck is located in Epanomi next to Thessaloniki, Greece. It sank around 1970 and it has been there ever since. The shipwreck is very close to the beach and you can even swim close to it and do some snorkeling. This summer night was perfect for shooting the milky way and the stars. Oh, and there were no mosquitoes!

This old fisherman’s boat is somewhere in Kalochori, next to Thessaloniki, Greece. Our plan was to spend some hours under the summer night sky shooting star trails and the milky way. However we were “attacked” by hundreds if not thousands of mosquitoes! Instead we spent the time in our car letting our cameras do the shooting.

This shot was taken in Kalamaria, Thessaloniki, next to Saint Nicholas church (which obviously you can’t see in the photo). I was trying to find something interesting to shoot when I saw those rocks covered in green moss. Luckily the sunset was on my side and it gave me a colourful sky. After so many years taking landscape photos in Thessaloniki it is getting harder and harder to find something new to photograph. Probably I should travel more!

This place is one of my favorites close to my home village. I really like how the waves have sculptured the base of this rock and how it stands alone in the middle. There is a Greek fish restaurant overlooking at this place called Villa Stasa. It’s food is great and the view is awesome. Don’t miss the zucchini! Actually this is the third time I am trying to photograph this place. I like this photo the most but still I haven’t get a show that I really like. I’ll have to try again!

The Servia’s high bridge is one of the longest bridges in Greece with a length of 1372 meters. It is located in Neraida, close to the city of Kozani. It crosses the artificial lake of Polyfytos. I was at the area looking for some lavender fields to photograph however I was a couple of weeks late and there were no lavenders. So, I drove some more kilometers and visited this bridge which was in my bucket list for some time. Now that I think about it I should have crossed the bridge apart from taking a photograph. Maybe next time!

On the right side of the photo, you’ll notice the striking Concert Hall buildings A and B—two modern architectural gems that host a variety of performances and cultural events throughout the year. Towards the center, the elegant Makedonia Palace Hotel shines in a distinctive purple hue. This luxurious hotel is not only a favorite among visitors but also a landmark that overlooks the serene Thermaikos Bay, offering breathtaking views both day and night.

A little further to the left, the iconic White Tower emerges—a historic monument and one of Thessaloniki’s most recognizable symbols. Its presence in the photo adds a timeless charm, reminding us of the city’s rich Byzantine and Ottoman past. Just above, the ancient city walls climb the hillside, whispering tales of Thessaloniki’s strategic importance and resilience through centuries.

One of the city’s true treasures is its beautiful seaside promenade, visible along the waterfront. This lively stretch is a beloved spot for locals and tourists alike, perfect for leisurely walks, cycling, or simply sipping coffee while soaking in the refreshing sea breeze. The promenade truly comes alive at night, with cafes and bars buzzing softly under the stars.

What I find most captivating about this shot is how the city lights dance and shimmer across the calm waters of Thermaikos Bay, creating a mesmerizing reflection that highlights Thessaloniki’s unique blend of urban energy and natural beauty. It’s a perfect snapshot of a city that feels alive, warm, and inviting even after the sun sets.

This is Thasos island in Greece as seen from the city of Kavala. I just happened to be at Kavala city for a wedding when the full moon painted with golden light the blue sea. I picked up my camera and got out to take this shot! Thasos island has some wonderful beaches and an amazing natural pool. More about this on another post!

This is the Lady’s island with its little church, named Panagia Holy Chapel, in Parga, Greece.

Parga has a long history through the centuries. That is why she is rightly called “The Princess of Epirus”. It is a seaside town located in the northwestern part of the prefecture of Preveza and overlooking the Ionian Sea. Parga is built amphitheatrically inside a green picturesque cove overlooking the lush island of Panagia. Lady’s Island stands haughtily in the calm waters of the port. The small church of Panagia with the characteristic all-white bell tower stands on the little island. French conquerors built it in 1808 in order to control the small ships in the port which were not visible from the main castle. The locals told us that many couples from all over the world decide to get married here!

We visited Parga for a weekend during our summer vacation but we were really lucky to get such an amazing and colorful sunset. We climbed the stairs up to top of the hill where I took this long exposure photo of the famous tourist attraction.
