Although a thunderstorm ruined my initial plan to photograph the Perseids meteor shower I didn’t give up. I packed up my things but didn’t return home. Instead I headed towards the opposite direction where the sky was clear in order to try and photograph the Perseids. I managed to get one more shooting star along with the milky way core in one of my favorite locations in Chalkidiki. I was planning to shoot the milky way here for a long time now but there is a bar there whose lights never allowed me to do so. Well this summer was a bit different. All the night bars were closing early so I finally got the shot I wanted with a shooting star as a bonus! Oh, the two bright stars are Jupiter and Saturn heading towards their great conjunction. The 2020 ‘Great Conjunction’ of Saturn and Jupiter is the closest these planets will appear in the sky since 1623!

Iceland is full of huge rock formations. This one is Gatklettur, aka the “Hellnar Arch”. A famous, naturally formed circular stone arch found between the villages of Arnarstapi and Hellnar on the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. This dramatic stone formation takes the shape of an arch and is set over the water, surrounded by bird-rich cliffs. In the past you could even get down to the soar. It is forbidden now, probably it was dangerous because of the swirling waves. However, there is a deck where you can stand and enjoy the view.

Blank Wall Gallery is hosting a photography exhibition with Landscape photos from photographers all over the world and I am pretty happy since my photo “Lady’s Island” will be a part of it! Exhibition’s duration is from October 16th to October 30th. So if it happens you to be in Athens why not stop by!

Here follows the press release.

Twenty photographers praise the greatness of nature in Blank Wall Gallery.

Blank Wall Gallery will host landscapes taken by international photographers from around the world.

Color and black and white landscapes draw the viewer’s attention and do not leave anyone indifferent, since through them the greatness of nature and the contradictions that make up this planet are displayed.

The photographers have their own style and their own techniques each, to present the theme, but the ultimate feeling that the photographs leave us with is one. Admiration and awe for the beauty found in nature and a sense that people are very small in front of it, even though we tend to forget it. The power of nature is what captivates and enchants the viewer. Even in photographs where the human presence is evident, the style of photography is ultimately influenced by the landscape and not by the human intervention on it.

The post Blank Wall Gallery Landscapes Exhibition appeared first on Alexios Ntounas Photography.

Nexus 5 came to the rescue to catch those silhouettes and sunset colors! This photo was featured in 33 Stunning Photos Shot On Mobile Phones on 500px!

This is the Lady’s island with its little church, named Panagia Holy Chapel, in Parga, Greece.

Parga has a long history through the centuries. That is why she is rightly called “The Princess of Epirus”. It is a seaside town located in the northwestern part of the prefecture of Preveza and overlooking the Ionian Sea. Parga is built amphitheatrically inside a green picturesque cove overlooking the lush island of Panagia. Lady’s Island stands haughtily in the calm waters of the port. The small church of Panagia with the characteristic all-white bell tower stands on the little island. French conquerors built it in 1808 in order to control the small ships in the port which were not visible from the main castle. The locals told us that many couples from all over the world decide to get married here!

We visited Parga for a weekend during our summer vacation but we were really lucky to get such an amazing and colorful sunset. We climbed the stairs up to top of the hill where I took this long exposure photo of the famous tourist attraction.
